Feb 032014

As recruiting becomes more popular, so does the coverage become so extensive. This Wednesday, Feburary 5th, will be the most covered signing day in history.

All times are Pacific.

ESPNU will kick off the day at 5:00 a.m. (repeated at 10:00 p.m.) with an 11 hour “National Signing Day Special.” The network will have representatives at 13 schools. UCLA is one of them and is the only school currently scheduled from the PAC-12, and west of the University of Texas.

The reporter for UCLA is Shelley Smith. Unfortunately, Smith is famous for falsely reporting a few years ago that Norm Chow was leaving UCLA for USC JUST BEFORE SIGNING DAY. It was quickly proven false but the damage was done. Smith is well known for her profiles of former Trojans and their fans and has co-authored a book with former Trojan Keyshawn Johnson. Reporting from UCLA on national signing day will be a true test if this reporter can be impartial. We shall see.

The ESPNU Schedule:

UCLA (Shelley Smith)
Alabama (Tom Rinaldi)
Auburn (Maria Taylor)
Florida State (Holly Rowe)
LSU (Niki Noto)
Miami (Mark Schwarz)
Notre Dame (Paul Carcaterra)
Ohio State (Quint Kessenich)
Penn State (Pedro Gomez)
Tennessee (Jeannine Edwards)
Texas (Kaylee Hartung)
Texas A&M (Cara Capuano)
